Terms of use
Last updated October 3, 2026.
These terms cover the Houndeye browser extension and houndeye.app, provided by Mako Logics LLC (“we”). By installing or using Houndeye you agree to them. If you don't agree, please uninstall it.
What Houndeye is
Houndeye is a free tool that marks YouTube videos it believes are AI-made. Its badges are an estimate built from YouTube's own labels, votes from Houndeye users, and other clues. A badge is not a statement of fact about a video or its creator, and Houndeye will sometimes be wrong in both directions. Use your own judgement.
Using Houndeye fairly
- Vote honestly, on videos you have actually looked at.
- Don't try to manipulate votes, for example with scripts, many installs, or coordinated campaigns against a creator.
- Don't attack, overload or reverse-engineer the Houndeye service to get around its limits.
We may ignore, discount or remove votes, and block installs, that look like abuse.
Creators
If Houndeye has marked your video and you believe it's wrong, use the appeal form. A person reviews every appeal. Badges based on YouTube's own “Made with AI” label reflect YouTube's disclosure, which you control in YouTube Studio.
YouTube
Houndeye is independent. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by YouTube or Google. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. You remain bound by YouTube's own terms while using YouTube.
No warranty
Houndeye is provided free and “as is”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We may change or stop the service at any time.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Mako Logics LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any decision you make based on a Houndeye badge. Our total liability for any claim about Houndeye is limited to $50.
Privacy
The privacy policy explains exactly what Houndeye collects and why.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date above shows when. Continuing to use Houndeye after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Texas.
