Help students spot AI video.

Houndeye costs nothing for students or teachers. The tool flags AI-made YouTube videos and explains the reasoning behind each decision, effectively turning every clip into a brief exercise in verifying sources.

Student privacy

What it collects from students.

Since Houndeye operates without user accounts, it does not request names, email addresses, or school logins. The platform also never gets access to any watch history. It only transmits two specific data points. First, it shares the votes a student selects to submit, which are paired with a random anonymous number. Second, it sends the IDs of videos that carry YouTube's AI label. If a student prefers not to send this video data, they can turn it off in Settings.

Deep check is an optional scanner that operates directly on the device. It remains inactive until a user manually enables it. The file size for this one-time download is roughly 520 MB, which might prompt you to keep it disabled on shared Chromebooks.

Houndeye functions as a teaching tool rather than a web filter. The Family plan, designed for parents, includes Kids mode to restrict viewing content. Schools do not have access to this feature at present.
